My Life is Lovely
Friday night after work, our bunch of guys (excludn MJ) had a night of mind-bogging, thigh-aching, butt-pinching and fun-filled night cycling. It felt certainly good to do something odac-ish, especially so since we hardly done any since leaving school. Unfortunately, we could only split the esctasy among 6 funties. A little more wouldn't hurt.
The day (night) itself
Most of the guys went there after their day of work. Me was one of those who belonged to this category. The proposal stated that the meeting time was supposedly set at 2030hrs. However, the guys on reaching (late) found out that was hardly so. Worse, the bike shop that we frequent is closing and hence they grabbed some bikes. Reason I wasn't there was because I went home first. Lol...
When the (present) odacers arrived, we finally found out the reason. They had pledge alliance to a different bike shop. It was certainly some kind of "level-up" as their bike shop provided better bikes, front lite and back lite and even locks for the bikes, all this at a cost of +3SGD as compared to ours. Welcome...the 4th generation
The journey itself was perfect! With ppl like Leos & Biaos around, it seemed certain that we wouldn't need to associate with ppl 4 yrs our junior and perhaps make some awkward introduction like "Halow da jia! Wo de ming zi jiao !@#$%^&". We were Grp Zero in the hierachy and hence were full speed ahead of the young birds. The route was very different from ours - I guess every batch wanted to show that they weren't copycats lol.
Our initial journey brought upon an unexpected guest. We were cycling past this Lorong Ong Lye and saw this pretty familiar little girl, who made Lor OL her home. We chatted her up and made her cry instead of smiling. She rejected us and we left reeling our luck. Haha.. Alot of shit talk.
Our first major stop was chomp chomp. Wondering how this place got it name? One long before you were born day, a Gorilla was passing by this hawker centre full of fantastic food like red-hot-chilli-stingray, soy-sauce-too-much-liao-carrot-cake and finish-it-if-you-can-sugarcane. It was so hungry and so it stormed the food! Passer-bys reported hearing sounds that "chomp-chomp" and "burrrpp". Since burp is hardly a impressive name - it reminds hungry ppl of being full - the owners opted for chomp chomp. Just say it and you feel like eating! Chomp chomp is located at Serangoon Circles. You can either take no. 250 or you can cycle there. No advance booking required. Seats are on a first-come-first-serve-basis. Get your chomp-chomp experience now~!!
Ok that's a whole load of crap - result of too much waiting time for my IC to reach. She's late for work - a hr half late?? - therefore I gotta wait for her for "advice". Anyway after chomping, 6 satisfied rangers set off in search for more food. That's how the way night cycling is, isn't it? Food + exercise = healthy person. Computer games + sleep = Joel. See the difference? Back to the topic, having alot of heart for tired legs, Heart diverted the rangers from the Dark Path. We skipped about 15 - 20mins of the route and ended up at Bishan centre 24hr-kopitiam. Thinking we were early, we decided to slack as much as we could. The great Biao had a headache and swallowed some white pills. I gobbled a char-siew bun. The rest ate their words and drank thirst quenchers. We set off for the Esplande. Well, the route was an eye-opener for the central dwellers. I, for one, didn't know such a route exists. I was so amazed that I started dreaming of cycling to Esplande myself, though I quickly abandoned the idea after realizing the distant possibility. Esplande was still pretty alive! It was about 0400hrs in the morning and the DXO-chiongers were just leaving. Many chose to rid their alcohol and dance fever at the bay. Other noctural animals made a freaking lot of noise, disturbing the peace and quiet that once filled the dawn waterfront. I had trouble keeping awake then as the Zee monster crept in. I suggested mounting the bikes quickly. We made haste for ECP.The final sprint proved to be the most treacherous part of our entire race. As we embarked on a very familiar route, we felt different from the past. Our bodies has remained in a state of inactivity for too long a period of time and suddenly an overnight stunt plus intensive cycling made it particularly difficult to finish the last part. Everyone was aching somewhere or another - Joel was crying for his ass. Myself, I'd to keep on pedalling before my quads cools and cramps. However, it felt nice travelling on the route we once took many many times, as recollection fell upon several of us. Back in ECP, we have to wait till 9am when only then the bike shop will be opened. We ate breakfast and stoned at McDonalds, trying to fight off the Zee monster as it took turns to infect us. While we were all in a dreamy half-asleep talking crap mode, one of their managers walked up to us and requested us to park our bikes elsewhere. We were about to get up and shift the bikes away when she shot out out of nowhere "alternatively, I can get the security to take the bikes away". We were taken aback by the pure rudeness of this manager, and Ivan immediately took action and did the Singaporean thing. The rest of us, though incested, were too lazy to bother. However, the drama didn't continue nor did the manager apologize. Ah whatever...Reaching home, I didn't felt a tint of fatigue. Perhaps it was the cosy sleep Joel & I had on the way home! Hahaha.. Anyway, so I contined my day activities as usual, with burning thighs as remains of last night's venture. Had a family dinner with my grandparents, my dad's bro's family and my family. I used to loathe these things but dunno since when I seemed to be a little more receptive and appreciative towards them. I went home and didn't sleep till 3am, total awake time being 44hrs. Wow, I wondered how I lasted.
